PREPARATIONS FOR REGIONAL OUTREACH IN MINDANAO

Cecile Alvarez, the Director of SDG Manila event, decided to extend the Manila SDG event to other provinces and islands in the Philippines. Viktor Sebek, Chairman of SSCC and Co-President of Colombian ITI, Mrs. Sonia Roca, the Chancellor of the Universidad del Pacífico in Guayaquil, Ecuador, and harp virtuoso and composer Jahir Rivera (also member of board of the Colombian Center of ITI) visited Ozamis Occidental , Mindanao on 8th and 9th December at the invitation of Dr. Glen Herbert Reyes, President of the North West Mindanao State College of Science and Technology. The college specializes in preservation of indigenous cultures which abound in Mindanao. The purpose of the visit is to prepare for the regional outreach when the event is rescheduled in 2022.

The following is the programme of two-day event which was organized by the University, where following presentations by Dr. Reyes, Viktor Sebek, Sonia Roca and Jahir Rivera, the event was addressed by Dr. Jennifer Wee Tan, the Mayor of Tagub City. The cultural programme celebrated customs, music and dances of different tribes. Mr. Philip Tan, the. Governor of Misamis Occidental, was also in attendance at the reception in the evening of the second day.

Following the two day event, the Mayor of Tagub expressed an interest in organizing in 2022 a festival of Music without Boundaries, in conjunction with SSCC and Earthsavers Dream Center UNESCO Artist for Peace.
